Basic principles and methods of resource-based psychotherapy
A 7-step model for working with the consequences of a traumatizing event in the method of resource psychotherapy This model of working with the consequences of a traumatizing event is based on the principles and methods of resource psychotherapy. Namely:
- The work is based on phenomena such as identity, faith, self-acceptance, and self-awareness.
- In the method of resource psychotherapy, overcoming the consequences of traumatic events takes place by expanding the conscious structure of personality, resourcefulness, and enhancing resilience without direct contact with the memory of the traumatic event.
- An important component at each stage of work is the anchoring of achieved results through bodily sensations in the body.
- This model can be used by psychotherapists regardless of the direction.
Stages of work
- Screening, stabilization, creating a state of safety, exploring and actualizing formed metaphorical images that provide a state of safety. Involving sensory structure organs.
- Searching, forming supports, linking support-body. Provides support and acceptance of both the situation and self-acceptance in it.
- Visualization of the core of personality in the body, filling it with meanings and images. Monitoring the stability of these constructs, working on their strengthening.
- Expanding the core of the personality’s awareness and filling the space with values, meanings, plans for the future, supports.
- Scanning connections of all systems, working through projective techniques. Monitoring the dynamics of symptoms and positive changes (from the first contact).
- Interaction of the inner world with the outer one. Working out causal relationships, identifying destructive scenarios (behavior strategies), restructuring scenarios.
- Plans and cross-checking with the I-concept, the core of personality, body reactions. Working out the I-concept, subpersonalities. Identifying new requests.
During work, monitoring is carried out using valid and reliable methods of psychodiagnostic research. A significant reduction, or normalization of indicators of situational anxiety, depression, signs of PTSD, aggression or auto-aggression is noted, psychosomatic manifestations decrease, and vitality indicators increase.
